Bentleigh East Dominates with High Clearance Rate

By Matt Hurlston

Auction activity in Melbourne climbed above national averages in the week to March 23, according to figures highlighted by RP Data's Shana Miller on March 24.

When it came to clearance rates, Melbourne was slightly ahead of the national average, beating the likes of Perth and Brisbane.

The weighted auction clearance rate across the nation's capital cities was 71.2 per cent for the week to March 23.

Over the same period, the Victorian capital boasted a clearance rate of 71.7 per cent, behind Sydney but well ahead of Adelaide (59.3 per cent), Perth (57.1 per cent) and Brisbane (37.3 per cent).

Weekend strength for Bentleigh East

Alongside the weekly figures, there is also data on offer that shows favourable results for owners of inner-city dwellings.

Victoria's clearance rate for the weekend alone (March 22-23) was 75 per cent, according to Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) CEO Enzo Raimondo.

However, a certain suburb in Melbourne performed particularly well, noted Mr Raimondo.

Those selling real estate in Bentleigh East would have been pleased with the suburb's 93 per cent clearance rate over the weekend.
