Carolling in Bentleigh

By Matt Hurlston

Families living in real estate in Bentleigh will soon be treated to the sound of music. While we’re sure residents have had no shortage of Christmas jingles and songs in local malls, there’s something special about belting out to carols in the open air.

On 12 December, Carols in the Park will give you the opportunity to sing with the best of them, live. Held in Bentleigh Hodgson Reserve from 5pm to 8.30pm, there will be a variety of performances from the Glen Eira community as well as seasoned world-class performers.

Hosted by Spencer McLaren, the line up includes acts by local schools, community groups, Peppa Pig and the Australian Girls Choir, which will all be a treat to enjoy. Furthermore, the official media release by the Glen Eira council says that be a surprise visitor at the event. There’s only one way to find out who.

If you’re still on the fence about the event, you may want to consider again. Kate Ceberano will be a headlining performer, adding plenty of star power to the night.

Queen of Australian pop

Known by music lovers as one of Melbourne’s premiere performers, Kate has a soulful jazz voice, an irresistible stage presence and a slew of self-written songs that have received praise across the country. Not to mention, she also has a variety of media experience, including a position as an artistic director for Adelaide

Kate has an array of awards and laurels under her belt, including winning best female artist, jazz performer and more. She was also the first female vocalist to be added to the Australian Songwriters Association Hall of Fame in 2014. Having such a vocal powerhouse leading the crowd in a few Christmas songs will certainly be something to behold.
