Community Grants for Lively Carnegie

By Matt Hurlston

Melbourne volunteers who live in Carnegie, Bentleigh or Murrumbeena real estate are invited to apply for council grants, notes a February 17 media release from the City of Glen Eira.

The 2014-2015 Community Grants Program will take applications from March 3, so volunteer groups in the municipality should think about applying to help further their neighbourhood activities.

Real estate in Carnegie and its nearby suburbs is an obvious choice for Melbourne families looking to settle down in an area that has great amenities, excellent transport infrastructure and a vibrant community vibe.

The promise of further festivals thanks to these grants will add to the appeal of these fantastic Melbourne suburbs, which are close to the central city, too.

The Community Services Grants and Community Festivals and Events Grants fall under the umbrella of the Community Grants Program.

The services grants are valued up to $7,500 and the festivals and events grant could provide interested community associations with up to $10,000 worth of funding.

"Council is committed to investing in the community, especially in the volunteer groups that do so much for so many people across the municipality," Glen Eira Mayor Neil Pilling stated.

An information session will run at Carnegie Library on March 12 for interested groups.
