Don’t Miss the Australian Open in Melbourne

By Matt Hurlston

Tennis enthusiasts living in real estate in Carnegie have most likely already secured their seats at Melbourne Park for the Australian Open.

Currently in full swing, this international sporting event attracts sports fans from all over the world to enjoy fast paced matches between tennis superstars.

The Australian Open is scheduled to wrap up on January 26, so locals are encouraged to get in quick to ensure they don't miss out.

This annual event draws a massive crowd each year and injects a substantial contribution to the local economy, a benefit the government is keen to hold on to.

A second-stage Melbourne Park upgrade funding boost of $338 million was announced by Premier Denis Napthine on January 12. This investment will be used to improve access and spectator comfort for future events.

"This $338 million investment is estimated to generate in excess of $2.27 billion in economic benefits for Victoria and create 1,300 construction jobs," Minister for Major Projects David Hodgett said.

If the Australian open has inspired a new passion for tennis, Stonnington council is offering a 'Come and Try' Tennis Open Day at Chadstone Tennis Club on January 23rd. The event is free for residents in Carnegie and nearby Malvern East real estate.
