Gardening and Tree Planting in Stonnington

By Matt Hurlston

The green spaces around Malvern East real estate are due to get a lot more colourful over the coming months.

Avid gardeners around Victoria are donning their working gloves, grabbing their tools and getting stuck into planting and sprucing up their flower beds now the Victoria in Bloom competitive has officially opened.

This event is designed to encourage tenants of social housing around the state to enhance the amenity of their homes and communities through gardening.

In addition to the Victoria and Bloom announcement, the City of Stonnington has joined with the Victorian government to support the planting of 1.5 million new trees in parklands across metropolitan Melbourne.

The state government's 2 Million Trees Project will involve planting days across the city over the summer months.

Wet weather recently experienced across Victoria makes this a great time for planting and preparing gardens and green spaces for summer.

"It's a great growing season and we want tenants to show off their skills and display their beautiful gardens," Minister for Housing Wendy Lovell said in a December 4 media release.

For those who count gardening among their passions, property purchasing decisions may be swayed by the green space available around the home.
