Glen Eira Council to embrace multi-cultural society – Matt Hurlston from Ray White Carnegie

By Matt Hurlston

There are many great reasons to live in real estate in Carnegie and one of them is the strong multi-cultural community that can be seen throughout area.

This will be on show for everyone to see over the festive season, as Glen Eira Council has announced it'll be installing a 3.6-metre Christmas tree alongside a Chanukiah of the same height.

Both features will be found on the corner of Glen Eira and Hawthorn roads and are designed to represent the two biggest faiths in the local area, the Herald Sun reports.

Each installation will be lit up by LEDs and there will also be plenty of other multi-coloured lights to really bring the festive spirit to this popular Melbourne suburb.

Around eight per cent of people living in the area follow Judaism, 2011 census data shows, so this decision is likely to be a key part of the local community at Christmas time.
