Increased Sales Of New Homes Across Victoria And Australia

By Matt Hurlston

New home buyers looking to buy real estate in Carnegie will be happy to know that a reported trend of recovery has swept across Australian homes as new home sales increased heading into 2013.

The Home Industry Association (HIA) have released the New Home Sales report which shows that seasonally adjusted new home sales increased by 3.9 per cent across the country as a whole – bringing the monthly sales back to a level not seen in over a year.

Furthermore, in the month of April, Victoria state saw their detached new home sales increase by 9.1 per cent – the biggest increase throughout the country.

HIA senior economist said there was a reluctance among homeowners to spend their money while tight credit conditions for the building industry could remain an obstacle in a statement released May 29.

Calling for policy change, he said the economy and the housing industry needed change to come from all aspects of government in order to stimulate this growth.

However, he did say that the new home sales were encouraging for the industry as a whole.

The three month period to April this year was 51.7 per cent higher than last years results.

“In particular, the important detached house segment of the market continues to climb out recent record lows, and this improvement has largely been broad-based across the states,” he said.
