Investors Should Look To The Future

By Matt Hurlston

When it comes to making a property investment, it’s important to look at the current profile of your preferred community, as well as projections for what it could be like in the future.

Population forecast data can be a particularly useful tool when making this kind of decision, as you can use this to determine what type of property might be the best investment over time.

For investors looking at homes in Carnegie or elsewhere in the City of Glen Eira, the local authority and Forecast.id have come up with projections of what the various households in the area will look like by 2021.

The greatest change, according to the forward projections, is expected to be an increase of group households. While this type of living arrangement made up 4.9 per cent of the total households in 2006, it is expected to increase to 5.5 per cent by 2021.

By comparison, the number of lone person households will remain largely flat – growing in line with the community’s increasing population.
