New Home Sales: 10.9% Increase in January

By Matt Hurlston

New home sales increased 0.5 per cent in January, which is a positive outcome, according to a March 3 Housing Industry Association (HIA) statement.

HIA Senior Economist Shane Garrett noted that despite a decline in December, new home sales are back on their "growth trajectory" as of January.

Buying new real estate in Bentleigh or nearby Carnegie may appeal to families looking to secure a modern home, however there are a range of options available.

Regardless of the different preferences for dwelling types, growth in new homes sales is a positive indicator for the property market.

Victoria performs well over three months

In the three months to January new detached house sales dropped, however this could signal interest in other dwelling types at this time – for instance, renovated properties.

Even so, January seemed to be a lot stronger for the state, with new private detached house sales increasing 10.9 per cent in Victoria.

This could have positive ramifications for Melbourne home buyers who want to secure new property during 2014, should the trend continue.

If you're looking to buy real estate in Carnegie, Bentleigh or Malvern East, experienced principal Matt Hurlston can advise you on your many options.
