Ray White Carnegie’s Matt Hurlston: Completed property projects increase across Melbourne

By Matt Hurlston

The number of dwellings completed in the City of Melbourne over the last year reached 6,300 – doubling the amount from last year and tripling the long term average seen in the Victorian capital. This could be great news for buyers interested in making moves into Bentleigh East real estate in the near future.

Lord mayor Robert Doyle said there were an additional 13,500 dwelling projects under construction, which are expected to be completed within the next three years.

"This boom in development and construction boosts employment and the economy. An additional 76,000 jobs have been generated in the City of Melbourne in the past six years and our gross local product has increased by $20billion," said Mr Doyle in an 18 December statement.

As the fastest growing municipality in Australia, the expansive and rapid growth of the Victorian market is great support for the expansion of Melbourne as a residential haven.
