Ray White Carnegie’s Matt Hurlston: RentRight app to aid tenants in Victoria

By Matt Hurlston

The latest announcement from Victoria's minister for consumer affairs Jane Garrett has encouraged people to download RentRight, a phone application that provides tenants with information about their responsibilities and rights, as well as a number of tools to help make the process of renting easier.

This could be well worth downloading for renters of Bentleigh real estate, especially after Consumer Affairs Victoria received over 90,000 calls from tenants and landlords during 2013/14. These queries ranged from questions about ending leases, through to inspection protocol, getting bonds returned and issues around increasing rents.

"RentRight is a must-have tool for renters. It gives you the information you need, and helps you communicate with your landlord or property manager. With a few taps on your phone, you can use the app's email and camera function to send your landlord or property manager a photo of an item that may need to be fixed," said Ms Garrett in an 18 March statement.
