Why not make the most of the low cash rate?

By Matt Hurlston

Once you've decided you're going to buy Malvern East real estate, it's important to take a look at property market conditions to decide when is the best time to make your move.

With the official cash rate currently at an all-time low of 2.5 per cent, now could be the perfect opportunity to secure a good deal on your home loan and make steps towards owning your own property.

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) first lowered the cash rate back in August 2013 and it's stayed at this level ever since – but there's no guarantee this will continue for much longer.

Conditions in the Australian economy aren't great at the moment, mainly because there are growing concerns about falling investment in the resources sector.

However, the situation isn't all bad, especially as home builders across the country are continuing to do good work, making more housing options available for those who do plan on entering the market.

A low cash rate environment works in the favour of buyers, especially as it means lenders are able to access the most competitive products.
