Amenities Are a Draw in Oakleigh

By Matt Hurlston

When it comes to choosing your next home, one thing that sets Oakleigh real estate apart from the competition is its wide range of amenities – including a newly-upgraded shopping centre that re-opened its doors last month.

The Eaton Mall has undergone a $2.5 million renovation and is proving popular among the local crowd, according to Monash Council.

Upgrades were made to improve the shopping centre’s infrastructure – some of which was more than 30 years old, said Monash mayor Micaela Drieberg – as well as to ensure the continued safety of the public.

The new shopping centre design includes subtle Mediterranean influences, particularly in its street furniture, which boasts stencilled fig leaves and olives.

According to Ms Drieberg, the facility could have a positive knock-on effect on other Oakleigh businesses too.

She said: “It’s great to see people enjoying what has been created.

“The more people who visit, the more local business will benefit and that secures local jobs into the future.”
