Melbourne still the World’s Most Liveable City

By Matt Hurlston

It's no secret that Melbourne has all the ingredients to make one fantastic place to live. From a vibrant arts and culture scene, to world-class education facilities, Melbourne is a fantastic place to put down some roots, and it has the awards to prove it.

For a staggering sixth year in a row, the Victorian capital has won the prestigious title of World's Most Liveable City. Here we take a look at this special honour, and how you can experience the magic of Melbourne for yourself with real estate in Carnegie

Ranking the world's cities

The decision of the world's most liveable city falls to media and insights firm, the Economist's Intelligence Unit, which releases its Global Liveability Ranking as part of the Worldwide Cost of Living Survey each year. Comprising data from 140 cities around the world, the ranking scores cities on a range of criteria surrounding various living challenges such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, stability, culture and environment.

In an incredible feat, Melbourne has held onto its top spot for the sixth year running, an achievement which Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews believes should be celebrated.

"This is a result all Victorians can be so proud of. It's just more proof there's no city on earth quite like Melbourne," he said.

"We've got something for everyone and the best of everything in Melbourne. Our title proves it."

It's not hard to see why Melbourne has retained its crown.

A bright future ahead for Melbourne

In addition to taking the title for the world's most liveable city, Melbourne is also leading the way in terms of employment growth. According to the office of Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews, the 12 months leading up to June 2016 saw the creation of over 110,000 new full-time jobs in the city.

"We've once again outperformed some of the world's best cities when it comes to healthcare, education, infrastructure, culture and environment, and sport," Mr Andrews explained.

The Victoria Premier also acknowledged all those who'd 'voted with their feet', with 70,000 people coming to live in Melbourne in the past year alone.

If you've been considering a move to the world's most liveable city, the team at Ray White Carnegie is here to help make it happen. Whatever your requirements, we can assist you with finding real estate in Carnegie, as well as Malvern and Murrumbeena real estate
