Melbourne’s night transport options extended

By Matt Hurlston

One of the many reasons people make the move to real estate in Bentleigh East is the excellent transport links available in and around Melbourne. From trains to taxis, trams to buses, getting from A to B might be simpler than you think.

If you often travel into the CBD at weekends, then the state government's decision to roll out the Night Network trial for another year will likely come as good news. Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan revealed that previous trials had proved a success, and the authorities are now convinced there's enough demand for 24-hour travel at the weekend.

"Night Network is the biggest advance in late night travel in Melbourne's history, and places us at the forefront of cities around the world," Ms Allan commented.

"I'd encourage everyone get out there and enjoy what Melbourne has to offer at weekends knowing they can take the Night Network home."

Figures show that as many as 10,000 Victorians made the most of the first night of public transport, marking a 300 per cent increase on normal levels for NightRider services in October.

Make the most of late-night travel

There will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Night Network over the coming months, as Melbourne once again has a busy schedule of events for its residents. Over the course of the summer, you can expect to enjoy Australia Day celebrations at the NewQuay Piazza, as well as various nights of entertainment hosted by Melbourne Zoo.

The opportunities for getting out and about are just one of the reasons why so many people choose to make the move to Bentleigh real estate. If this is on your wish list for 2016, make sure you speak to Matt Hurlston of Ray White Carnegie, who has an in-depth knowledge of this desirable suburb.
