New grants for sports and recreation clubs across Victoria

By Matt Hurlston

Maintaining a happy and balanced lifestyle means getting out and staying active at all ages. The Victorian government recently announced plans to provide local sports and recreation centres with grants to help encourage people to embrace physical activity across the state.

This could be great news for residents of real estate in Bentleigh, providing more incentive for children and parents alike to participate in local sporting activities in the near future.

Minister for health Jill Hennessy said the $3,000 grants were to help the clubs fund new equipment and attract more people to join them and get involved.

"We want to encourage more Victorians to be active, to get out and about, and to enjoy sports and recreation, so I'm very pleased to announce these grants for clubs across the state," said Ms Hennessy in a 27 May statement.

"Local clubs are a fun and sociable escape from the stresses of modern life, and can have a positive impact on a person's sense of health and wellbeing."

Overall, the VicHealth Active Club Grants program will fund 296 clubs across Victoria in the coming months, so be sure to keep an eye out for these improvements.
