The Royal Children’s Hospital

By Matisse Cuce

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) is one of Australia’s biggest and busiest hospitals specialising in paediatric care. Ranked number fifty-three in the world, the Royal Children’s Hospital offers twelve wards, three hundred and fifty beds and employs over six thousand staff.

The RCH aims to provide the greatest level of care and a brighter future for sick children. Fundraising efforts continue throughout the year, culminating in the much loved Good Friday Appeal. The RCH encourages people to raise funds through many different means. You can hold your own special events, raise funds to sponsor a bed or even participate in the annual Run For The Kids fun run.

The money raised is used to create better outcomes for sick children. It is used for extensive research, upgrading equipment and technology, leadership, education and training, and most importantly family and patient care. The RCH with the support of the community aims to improve the future of children’s health and become a global centre of excellence in healing and curing the most vulnerable of sick children.

The RCH Run For The Kids Marathon forms part of the initiative to raise funds for the hospital. This event was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday the 29th of August, 2021. Unfortunately, due to the Victorian Government announcing a 6th state-wide lockdown, this community event could no longer take place, and was postponed to a date that is yet to be announced for 2022.

Although the Run For the Kids 2021 marathon was postponed, our team at Ray White Carnegie still wanted to contribute to what is an outstanding organisation. We created a Go-Fund-Me Page, and with a very supportive community by our side, we were able to raise a total of $2,909.00 which was donated directly to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

In acknowledging that most children who enter the RCH are confined to the hospital, for sometimes lengthy periods, we felt a duty to do what we could to promote the cause, and give back to those who need it most. The Ray White Carnegie team participated in our very own ‘Run For The Kids’. Whether it was indoors or outdoors, with our families or partners, on Sunday the 29th of August we covered a total of 70kms in honour of the patients and workers of the RCH.

We would encourage everyone to donate to this great cause.
